The iColor Banner is displayed free at participating web sites. Clicking on the banner will take you to our mood color selection page where you can use the five pre-defined color selection buttons to quickly choose your current mood and register it with the click of a mouse. This input provides us with the ability to display the world's emotions!
Return
Q) What is the iColor® computer process ?
A) iColor® (EST: 2000) is the name of computer software, for use by the general public, that combines the input of five pre-defined color values collected from a multitude of input sources, to calculate and produce a single color representation, which provides the end-user with a visual correlation between the generated color value and a corresponding level of measurement, used to describe various degrees of status or condition.
This is our legal description!
Return
Q) Why track people's moods and emotions ?
A) It’s a fun new concept in the world of Internet data and computers. For eBusiness it’s an important tool in helping form a unique bond with customers, in a way never before available to the general public. Users of the Internet will appreciate having an opportunity to express their feelings about a particular product, idea, or web site without having to fill out intrusive and time consuming forms. Companies will be able to identify problems or successes by viewing a single, easy to interpret color.
Return
Q) How did you come up with the idea ?
A) We won't get into details as we would like to save that for the movie! But basically two friends got together and pondered over what would make the Internet more interesting.
Return
Q) How did you select the colors you use ?
A) We did a color study. We started with black as the color chosen for our "Terrible" mood. Black is well established as representing the dark side of emotions. But the opposite is white. Black and white, although they have many variations across the gray scale, are simply not as 3 dimensional as colors. They are flat and 2 dimensional. So we quickly moved to colors (as we had originally envisioned).
Human moods cover a spectrum of emotions. The rainbow found in nature, covers the spectrum of color. So we looked to the rainbow for some insight into the colors that should represent those emotions.
The rainbow gives you 6 main colors. Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red.
To give us a solid middle selection, we needed to drop off one color. The logical choice was purple. Basically, purple is the underneath color of the rainbow. In the spectrum of color, it is the result of a transition from the primary color Red, which makes up the outer band of color in the rainbow, and the primary color Blue which makes up the inner band of color in a rainbow (not including purple). As it was important to maintain the primary colors at either end of our own color selection spectrum, out went the secondary color purple.
Blue is a natural "Great" color, in the rainbow and in our own psyche. Blue is the color of the sky and is often used to describe tranquillity. Red is connected with fire and brimstone. It is the color often used to describe anger. It also represents passion, but we must remember that passion can be very turbulent. Red is the outer portion of the rainbow (away from the center). We think of outer as outside where life is often chaotic. Blue is towards the center of the rainbow arc, which makes one feel closer to the center and more comfortable.
There is a flip side. Red could also be looked at as a happy color to some and it represents the "top" of the rainbow. Blue could mean you are feeling blue and sad. We could have gone either way on this one, but went with the selection that would more naturally reflect the mood felt by most people.
We had also thought of letting people flip the color selections, but this would cause confusion and take away the consistency we were looking for. When someone described their mood as "Red", we wanted to know for sure there was only one feeling they were describing.
Return
Q) Will this service cost me anything ?
A) No! This service is free to the general public for enjoyment and knowledge. Only Website Mood Watch and portions of the Mood Polls function are restricted to paying customers (corporations and organizations).
Return
Q) Where can I go to see the "World" mood color ?
A) Two ways; Either click on the globe on our web site I Color My World .com that says "Mood Demographics" or simply click on the demographic mood color button to the right of the iColor My World button on the iColor Banner found on hopefully thousands of web sites all around the world.
Return
Q) What is the iColor Banner ?
A) The banner is simply a fun and completely non-intrusive informational banner used to collect and display the current moods of the Internet world. It will never display advertising and will instantly provide added interest to any existing web page content by displaying the changing mood color of the "World" and by allowing for mood color selection.
Return
Q) How do I enter my mood color selection ?
A) Simply click on the color that reflects the mood you are feeling at the time on any iColor Banner on the World Wide Web. One more mouse click to verify the user information and that's it. Just two clicks and you are a part of a new standard in Internet technology.
Return
Q) Can I put a banner on my own web site ?
A) Absolutely! That’s what we’re hoping for. See the Install iColor Banner function.
Return
Q) Can you track my input and information back to me ?
A) We do not collect or maintain information that includes your name, SSN or home address. We do not keep public statistics by UserID. No one can access any information related to you, except you. All data kept on our databases is in a non-displayable format. Plus, we will never provide private information to outside sources.
Return
Q) How can I look at the mood colors that I select when using the iColor Banner ?
A) We will have an option to collect your mood color selections to your Personal Mood Journal. Then you can use the List option within the Personal Mood Journal function to display your own mood color selections. The Subject will read From iColor Banner.
Return
Q) Why do I need to enter a UserID and password ?
A) So you won't have to enter your demographic information more than once. We tie this information to your logon UserID, then when you select you mood color in the future, you simply verify your logon UserID and click on Continue to quickly complete the process. Also, we use your UserID and password for other protected areas on the website, like Personal Mood Journals.
Return
Q) How do I change my password ?
A) Go to First Time New Users on the Mood Color Selection Function screen and notice that it also says existing users can update their information by clicking on the check box that is supplied. Click on that check box and then click on the Continue button. On the resulting information add screen, enter your existing UserID, enter your existing password, enter a new password and verify password. Also enter any information you would like to update, then click again on the Continue button. The information will be added or updated, and your mood color selection will be processed.
Return
Q) What do I do if I lose my password ?
A) We provide a password verification function that will email a new password out to you if you can accurately match all of the demographic information we currently maintain for you. Click here to generate new password!
If you still cannot obtain your password, please email us for further assistance. Click here to email us!
Another alternative is to generate a new UserID and password, but you will lose any links you have to your existing information.
Return
Q) What about other users on my computer ?
A) As users that share the computer generate their own logon UserIDs, we will add them to a list of UserIDs tied to your computer. Then the matching UserID can be easily clicked on for the mood color selection process.
Return
Q) Why can I select a logged on UserID without re-entering a password ?
A) For speed. We want it to be as easy as possible to select a mood color when you want to. Requiring a password, if we find multiple users logged on, would slow you down. We assume that all users logged onto that computer will not abuse the logon protocol. Where security is more of an issue, like with the Personal Mood Journal, a password is always required.
Return
Q) I'm the only user on this computer, can I skip selecting my UserID ?
A) Go to First Time New Users on the Mood Color Selection Function screen and notice that it also says existing users can update their information by clicking on the check box that is supplied. Click on that check box and then click on the Continue button. On the resulting information add screen, enter your existing UserID, enter your existing password, click on the check box that says Skip Logged On Users. Enter any information you would like to update, then click again on the Continue button. The informatin will be added or updated, and your mood color selection will be processed.
Return
Q) Why do I have to enter demographic information ?
A) The demographic information you supply is the heart of useful statistics we maintain on this website. It allows us to provide specific information about the emotions of different groups of people when news takes place around the world. Your demographic information helps make this happen as you make your own mood color selections. Make your mood color selection really count!
Return

Q) Who is Hamilton Systems, Inc. ?
A) Hamilton Systems, Inc. (HSI) is a Virgina, USA based software corporation. Incorporated in 1989, they started by developing software for the mainframe and produced and marketed a multi-use informational tool called INFOBUS. They have since moved to the Internet, where they now produce creative and user friendly eBusiness web sites, such as I Color My World .com.
Return
Q) How will HSI make money with this website ?
A) In order to provide this service free to the general public, we must generate income. We plan to do this with portions of the Mood Polls function and Website Mood Watch. We will also accept a certain amount of advertising on our website as it becomes more widely utilized and accepted.
We also own the rights to the design and resulting software that executes the iColor® process. The generation of a single variable color to describe a specific level of measurement is a ground breaking concept in data reporting.
We plan on exploiting this facility in other areas to help various industries simplify status and condition reporting.
Return
Q) How do I contact Hamilton Systems, Inc. ?
Return
Q) What are those totals at the bottom ?
A) Number of entries processed, is the total number of database records read. When displayed by itself, it is also the total number of entries displayed in the table.
Number of entries displayed, when utilized as a separate count, is the total number of entries displayed in the table versus the total number of entries processed.

Q) What is Mood Demographics function used for ?
A) This display shows the results of all the mood color selections performed by everyone around the world. The data is provided by demographic groups broken into Location and Demographics (which includes all other groupings of people).
Return
Q) How do I use the Mood Demographics function ?
A) This display is set up to filter on demographic information. The default search filter for Location is set to the World. Demographics is set to All Demographics. This results in a list of all the demographics (groups of people) that selected mood colors around the world.
| Field Usage | Description |
| Location | This column reflects the location demographics we collect data for. Use the pull down filter bar to select other location demographics to display. |
| Demographics | This column reflects the other demographics that describe or identify various groups of people. Some examples include gender, age, income, education and political orientation. Use the pull down filter bar to select identifier demographics. |
| iColor Date and Time | This column reflects the date and time of the last mood color selection for the related demographic. When the last person selected their mood color, it occurred at the displayed date and time for the corresponding demographic. |
| iColor® | This column reflects the resulting color generated by calculating all of the mood color selections for the related demographic (using the iColor® process). This single color view quickly and accurately reflects the mood of the corresponding demographic group of people. |
| Mood Colors | These columns reflect the total counts for each of the 5 mood color selections for the related demographic. |
| Functions | The Filter submit button is used to run the demographic filtering based on your pull down filter selections. If you see More submit buttons appear, they identify that more records exist for the related demographic. A historical list can be viewed for the corresponding demographic by clicking on this button. |
So, if you wanted to see the mood color selections for all the women in the United States, you would set Location to United States, set Demographics to Female, then look to the right to click on the Filter submit button.
Hints: Set your browser font size to medium or smaller to fit more of this report on your display monitor. Set the Time pull down menu to your local time zone to reflect times in that format (default GMT).

Return
Q) What is Poll Email Comments ?
A) When you set this field to your support email address, it creates a button for your poll that allows users to contact you with comments or questions. Just a word of caution here. Return
Q) What is the Extra Questions option ?
A) If you know you will be needing 13 questions and the function only provides 10, you will need to add 3 additional questions at poll create time. The ability to add additional questions at any point does not currently exist at this release level, so it is important to think ahead and plan your questions and answers in advance of building a poll or survey.
Return
Q) What is the Click for Totals Only ?
A) This option allows you to check for errors and to also pre-calculate what the costs will be to build the desired poll or survey. Please note that no costs will be incurred until the Accept box is clicked along with the Submit button. This only helps you determine the total cost of the options selected.
Return
Q) How do you create Polling Questions ?
A) You must first establish the billing and polling information found on the Create page. When you click the Accept box in addition to the Submit button, this will take you to the page where questions are defined and added to your poll. When actually adding questions to your poll, take advantage of our Answer Autofill option to quickly provide you with the more common answers often used in polls and surveys. But also realize that before you enter your own answers using the Multiple Choice or Hi to Low Answers, you must first select the answer type and click the Update button, which will provide you with the fields you will need to enter your own answers.
Return
Q) What is the Answer Autofill ?
A) Most polls and surveys have standard answers. We provide a mechanism to quickly select those standard answers. Also, it keeps the answers in a format that allows our iColor technology to provide accurate results. To utilize Hi to Low type answers (which most are), they must have the highest answer (Most or More) to the left, under the blue color, with the lowest answer (Least or Less) to the right, under the red color. If you don't like our standard Hi to Low answers you can select your own. Simply select "Your Hi to Low Answers", click on the Update button and it will provide little boxes where you can enter your own Hi to Low type answers. In doing so, you will also reap the benefit of the iColor technology, which will properly color code your answers for you. If you have completely random multiple choice answers, select that option, click on the Update button, and it will provide input boxes for those answers. But don't worry, you don't forgo the use of the iColor technology. We also utilize it with the multiple choice answers. We position the answer with the most responses to the left under the blue color and the answer with the next amount of responses under the green and so forth. We then calculate the iColor based on the position of the answers under the color buttons. What you get is an immediate color coded level of magnitude. If the iColor shows blue or blue/green, then the answers to the left are very predominate. If the iColor is yellow or even orange, then the votes are very even across the answers provided. iColor is a very powerful indicator of levels of magnitude as well as standard measurement!
Return
Q) How are the answer results cleared (answer counts set to zero)?
A) The answer counts are reset to zero if (1) You clear the question. or (2) You change the answer type. or (3) You change a Hi-Low or Multiple Choice answer. or (4) It is a brand new question being asked.
